Here we go for a wild ride. Not a fast or violent one, but a wild and unpredicatble, absurd, fun and ... free? Put your fluorescent ski wetsuit, your headphones and dive in.
Some words from the man himself:
"PSSGR stands for "passager", a passenger in french, or maybe the codename for an intergalactic vessel. Onboard this EP for an eclectic journey through future electronic sounds from the past. Follow humanoid cats, snails with superpowers, sci-fi references and mysterious blips and blops with Kroubikou.
Opening the EP, Skiing Recurring Slope lineae is a sci-fi martian dream.
In this scene an anthropomorphic cat is free riding Mars mountains, alone and soothed, in a nostalic retrosynth athomsphere.
The tribal rhythm part blends with the haunting bass line while ski marks appear downhill, only to be interrupted by rising synth leads...a music piece for a surreal freeriding experience.
Our journey have us questioning about this strange name, Kroubikou, but it doesn't mean anything and the eponymous track just lose us a bit more between loads of bells, breakbeats and groovy flute samples.
Listening to "Meow" we look to the horizon and ear funky cat synth growls slowly building a chill house track for future warm ups during sunny sunday morning...in fact we are unsure sunday still exists.
Things gets a darker in "Transferring memories between snails" where we cross the frontier between human drumbreaks and silicon binary beats, we don't know exactly how they work.
To end our exhausting trip under a rain of snappy synths "can't make it without sleep" move us for the last 8 bars before we go back to reality, and open our eyes again.
I hope you had a wonderful travel."
Kroubikou discovered electronic music with sounds from Laurent Garnier, Daft punk, the Chemical brothers, Detroit techno and the french Free party scene from the 2000’s. A bit of djaying at first, and then composing. A first album was made in 2001 with a yamaha groovebox ! Few years later he joined the french trio AlgoRythmiK for a fantastic adventure in breakbeats and samples. Today is another path with new sounds, still at the crossing points of different electronic music genres. Enjoy !
